Pan-Canadian Sector Council & Immigrant Dialogue: Barriers Affecting the Integration of Non-Regulated Occupation Immigrants into the Canadian Labour MarketSector councils participated in the steering committee for this project led by the The Canadian Coalition of Community-Based Employability Training (CCCBET), and also participated in research and conference activities. The project identified specific issues and barriers preventing the integration of non-regulated occupation immigrants and refugees into the Canadian workforce and held a national event, “The Dialogue” between Sector Councils and immigrant serving agencies, to promote networking, sharing of information, and partnerships.
Canadian Immigration Integration ProjectA number of sector councils are involved in this pilot project that helps immigrants to Canada prepare for employment in Canada while completing final immigration requirements in their countries. BioTalent Canada, the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council , and the Information and Communications Technology Council are among the sector councils that are collaborating with the Association of Canadian Community Colleges on this project.
