Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) and its associated range of issues involve many players, programs, services, and jurisdictions. The complexity of the field of FCR-related issues can be very confusing. TASC has produced a guide to the field that gives an overview of the essential players and their initiatives. This guide is an indispensable primer to the field of FCR—the process of verifying education, training and job experience obtained in another country and comparing it to the standards established for Canadians. The overview also includes the assessment of “competencies” gained outside of Canada, through mechanisms such as Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR).
