This research report from the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council identifies federal departments and programs associated with immigrants, their roles and possible opportunities for collaboration. This research was undertaken as part of the council’s research project to inform the development of a foreign credential recognition system to address non-regulated professions.

Regulations in the Food, Beverage and Accommodation Occupations
This document reports on research conducted by the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council to assess ways in which local Canadian regulations in the beverage service, food safety and accommodation sector may represent additional complexities in assessing and recognizing foreign credentials nationally. The research project examined regulations governing ten occupations within the beverage service, food safety and accommodations sector and their associated qualifications and training requirements. This research was undertaken as part of the council’s research project to inform the development of a foreign credential recognition system to address non-regulated professions.

These documents report on the consultation and round table meetings held by the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council with the education community to explore current practices, issues, and needs in serving immigrants, and the relationship of services towards FCR & the accreditation of programs. The meetings were intended to explore the implications in the event that a credit transfer system were to be established on a national level and were undertaken as part of the council’s research project to inform the development of a foreign credential recognition system to address non-regulated professions.

Getting There From Here--Immigrant-Serving Agency Perspectives On Meeting The Challenges Facing Newcomers In The Tourism Sector
This document reports on the research conducted by the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council to identify and catalogue immigrant-serving programs and providers that attend to immigrant populations and/or prepare individuals for work, with a view to developing working relationships with these groups in order to provide effective, efficient service and to prevent duplication of efforts with regard to assessing and recognizing the credentials of immigrants. These reviews are part of the council’s research project to inform the development of a foreign credential recognition system to address non-regulated professions.
Pan-Canadian Sector Council & Immigrant Dialogue: Barriers Affecting the Integration of Non-Regulated Occupation Immigrants into the Canadian Labour Market
This report describes findings of a project led by the The Canadian Coalition of Community-Based Employability Training (CCCBET) that identified specific issues and barriers preventing the integration of non-regulated occupation immigrants and refugees into the Canadian workforce. The steering committee for the project included representatives from the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council, the Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council and the Canadian Plastics Sector Council. Many sector councils also participated in the research and conference activities of the project.
